Danzil to Anse Major - The trail follows part of the rocky coastline of Northwest Mahe and leads to a small secluded beach called Anse Major. Much of the trail lies within the boundaries of the Morne Seychellois National Park. The trail is graded as EASY and it follows the contours of the land passing spectacular rock slopes and native vegetation typical of the drier areas of Mahe.

The walk should take you no longer than one and a half hours to reach Anse Major as the trail only has short ascents and descents. The walk is normally quicker on return and is by the same route. An early start is recommended as there is very little shade.

Glacis to Anse Etoile - This trail follows minor roads across the northern hills of Mahe. These drier, previously eroded hills are clothed in coconuts and secondary vegetation. From Glacis there is a fairly steep climb between a few houses to the hamlet of La Gogue and a gentler descent to the picturesque reservoir behind La Gogue Dam. A choice of two routes are then available to Anse Etoile.

The trail is graded as EASY. The walk is around three hours long and should be taken early in the day as there is some exposure to the sun. Buses are frequent from Anse Etoile.

Victoria/Beau Vallon - This walk can be done in either direction. Some of the walk is by the main road in which care should be taken. The remainder of the walk is by minor roads in which you pass through a historical part of Victoria. There are several small shops which can sell refreshments along the way. The walk is designated EASY but there is one steep section which ever direction you travel in. The walk should take you around one and a half hours. Local buses and taxis are frequent along the main roads.

Les Trois Freres - The Trois Freres path leads through a section of the Morne Seychellois National Park to the summit of the mountain overlooking Victoria. This is a spectacular walk amongst some of the most beautiful forest and views anywhere in the world. However it is not an easy walk and is very steep and is exposed to the sun in places. It will take about two hours to reach the summit and around one hour for the return journey. You must take care not to stray from the path as there is danger of falling amongst the boulders or getting lost amongst the thick undergrowth.

Tea Factory to Morne Blan - Another spectacular walk amongst the fantastic foliage of the Morne Seychellois National Park. Apart from a short steep section at the start of the trail this is a shaded and steady climb that should only take around one hour to reach the summit which is 667m above sea level. Along the way you will be able to see many of the fascinating and diverse plant community which is unique to Seychelles. The walk is graded as MEDIUM and it is recommended that an early start is taken to avoid the sun and mountain mist which sometimes form later in the day.

La Reserve and Brulee - La Reserve contains one of the best areas of palm forest remaining on Mahe. Five of the six unique palms of Seychelles are present along this MEDIUM graded walk. The backdrop of granite cliffs and boulders adds to the splendour of the rich tropical forests that are present. There are several different routes available, two to three hours are recommended depending on which route is taken.

Val Riche to Copolia - Although the majority of the walk is through shady forest the summit of Copolia is exposed to direct sun 500 meters above sea level. The summit offers fantastic views overlooking the east coast of Mahe and on a clear day it is possible to spot up to fourteen other islands. As some of the segments are slightly difficult and require a minimum amount of climbing it has been designated a MEDIUM walk in which two hours is required to reach the summit and then return.

Anse Royale to Anse a la Mouche - An EASY graded walk through a historical area of Mahe. Often passing small settlements and scattered houses it allows you a glimpse of life away from the hustle and bustle of Victoria. It will take you three to four hours to complete this walk depending on which route you take and it is possible to visit an old chapel and two cemeteries as well as some startling vegetation. Local buses are available on completion of the walk.

.La Digue, La Pass to Grand Anse - This stunning walk along some of La Digue’s unique and varied scenery will take approximately two hours and is graded as EASY. The trail can be followed on foot or by bicycle passing several old houses built in the architectural style of the French colonial era before reaching some woodlands, a marsh and the spectacular beach of Grand Anse. The return journey leads you through a couple of villages and past the home of the endemic Black Paradise Flycatcher.

Vallee de Mai National Park - The most famous of all the walks in Seychelles takes you through an adventure of a lifetime amongst some of the most unspoilt and rich tropical forest anywhere in the world. Home to the famous Coco de Mere palm and it’s striking nut, this is a walk that all visitors to Praslin should take. Graded as EASY it is a fascinating walk through what many believe to be the original Garden of Eden. There is a small fee payable to enter the park and walks can take forty five minutes to two hours depending on which of the many routes you take.

There are several small guides to accompany these walks which have been well written and will inform you of the flora and fauna that you can expect to see along the way.
